On November 24, 2025, at 1838 hours, New Brighton police officers responded to 510 True, New Brighton, Ramsey County, on a report of an assault. Officers spoke to MEDE, [DOB REDACTED]. He said that he allowed a friend, identified as Iseim Jose Cruz Jimenez, [DOB REDACTED], to stay at his home because Cruz Jimenez had just been released from jail and was homeless. Cruz Jimenez was drinking, using drugs, and damaging property in his home, so MEDE ordered him to leave. Cruz Jimenez refused. He grabbed a kitchen knife and held it outstretched toward MEDE, threatening him with the knife.
MEDE said he feared for his life. He blocked himself into his bedroom and put a dresser in front of the door to prevent Cruz Jimenez from harming him. Officers entered the home and located Cruz Jimenez who was non-compliant and passively resistant to officers. Officers arrested him. He declined a custodial interview. Officers observed damage to a back bedroom door. MEDE said that Cruz Jimenez punched the door. Officers also collected the knife that MEDE identified as the weapon used by Cruz Jimenez.
