On or about December 8, 2025, University of Minnesota Police were dispatched to an assault at the University of Minnesota Medical Center (UMMC), University of Minnesota, Hennepin County, MN. Upon arrival, officers made contact with University of Minnesota Medical Center Security Guards A. W. And J. G., who both stated that they made contact with a suspicious male on the 5th floor of UMMC. While attempting to escort the male out of the hospital, the male removed pepper spray/tear gas compound from his person and sprayed them both in the face in the northeast stairwell.
The male fled on foot out of the area. A. W. And J. G. Were both immobilized by the pepper spray/tear gas compound and unable to open their eyes. Both parties received assistance from medical personal. The male was identified as BIRDEN-WEEMS, JEREMIAH MALIK [DOB REDACTED], hereinafter "Defendant." Defendant was located inside the Frontier Hall front lounge area. While officers attempted to arrest Defendant, Defendant resisted arrest and assaulted one of the officers. Defendant was transported to Hennepin County Jail and is currently in custody for Assault in the 4th Degree and Obstruct Legal Process charges.
