On January 8, 2025, an officer from the Blaine Police Department was dispatched regarding a delayed theft report. The reporting party, a Home Depot loss prevention employee, reported that a female, later identified as Kayla Jean Pearson [DOB REDACTED], Defendant herein, went to the Blaine Home Depot, located at [ADDRESS REDACTED] NE, city of Blaine, county of Anoka, Minnesota, on January 2, 2025, and had left the store without paying for all of the merchandise. The loss prevention employee reported that on January 2, 2025, at 12:42 PM, at the Blaine Home Depot, Defendant had a cart of merchandise and only scanned and paid for some of the merchandise in the self-checkout late.
Defendant left the store and passed all points of sale without attempting to pay for the remaining merchandise. The total loss was $399.85. Defendant returned to the Blaine Home Depot that same day, at 1:59 PM, and again only paid for some of the merchandise in her cart in the self-checkout lane. The total loss was $249.91. Defendant returned to the Blaine Home Depot a third time, at 3:35 PM, and again only paid for some of the merchandise in her cart. The total loss was $418. On January 9, 2025, an officer from the Blaine Police Department was dispatched to Home Depot, located at [ADDRESS REDACTED] NE, city of Blaine, county of Anoka, Minnesota, regarding a theft in progress.
The loss prevention employee reported that Defendant had selected a can of paint and concealed it in her purse. Defendant also went to the electric area and selected two light fixtures. Defendant then taped different barcodes over the current barcodes on the light fixtures, so they would show a lower price during check-out. Defendant took the light fixtures to self-checkout and scanned the fraudulent barcodes. Defendant then proceeded to exit with the light fixtures and the concealed can of paint.
The total loss was $166.42. On June 29, 2025, an officer from the Blaine Police Department was dispatched regarding a delayed theft report. The reporting party stated that on June 28, 2025, Defendant had entered the Home Depot store, located at [ADDRESS REDACTED] NE, city of Blaine, county of Anoka, Minnesota, and selected two box AC units. Defendant placed the unit, worth $449 near the garden center exit. Defendant then went to the front of the store and purchased the other unit, worth $150. After placing the $150 unit in her vehicle, Defendant returned to the garden center and selected the $449 unit.
Defendant showed the Home Depot employee her $150 receipt and left the store without attempting to pay for the $449 unit. The aggregated total for all unpaid merchandise is $2,767.70.
