At around 8:50 PM on March 13, 2026, a man was pumping gas at the Holiday at [ADDRESS REDACTED] when he heard what he thought were fireworks coming from the nearby intersection of Old Hudson Road and White Bear Avenue, St. Paul, Ramsey County. People at the gas station crouched down, and the man copied their behavior. The man saw two vehicles at the intersection – a dark SUV and a sedan – appeared to be shooting at each other. The vehicles fled towards Interstate 94. The man then saw TW [DOB REDACTED] holding his chest and running into the gas station parking lot.
Officers responded to the gas station and found TW lying down on his back with a gunshot wound a couple of inches to the right of the center of his chest. TW was covered in blood from his torso to his shoes. TW said he was walking to a bus stop when a black SUV drove past him, and he was shot. TW did not see who was in the SUV or who shot him. Medics transported TW to the hospital. Surveillance video from Holiday showed TW walking toward White Bear Avenue on Old Hudson Road. Two vehicles were stopped at the intersection.
Two people got out of the rear driver’s side door, and a third person got out of the passenger side. One of the people who got out of the rear driver’s side raised an arm, pointed it at the SUV, and muzzle flashes appeared. TW fell to the ground. The SUV drove off, and the people who had exited the sedan got back in. The sedan followed the SUV. The black sedan had darkly tinted windows, a rear spoiler on the trunk, and its front license plate displayed on the passenger dashboard. TW got up and stumbled into the Holiday parking lot clutching his chest.
Officers found four spent 9mm casings in the intersection where the shooting occurred. Around the time officers were responding to TW’s shooting dispatch received a panicked phone call from a man saying they were being chased and shot at while in a black Toyota RAV4. Officers met JT [DOB REDACTED] and TL (YOB: 2009) at the Woodbury Police Department. The RAV4 had a bullet hole in its driver’s side front quarter panel. TL explained they were supposed to meet a girl from an Instagram chat group who supposedly found JT attractive.
The girl sent them the Conway Rec Center address for a meeting point. They did not pull into the parking lot when they arrived due to a suspicious black Mercedes sedan that was in the lot with its lights on. They briefly spoke from inside the RAV4 to the girl who stood on the sidewalk. She told them to come to her party. They tried to get the girl to enter the RAV4 to make plans. They saw the black sedan quickly pull out of the rec center parking lot behind the RAV4. There were four Asian males with ski masks in the sedan.
JT sped away making several turns in the neighborhood before arriving at a red light on Old Hudson Road at White Bear Avenue. They were in the left turn lane when two people from the sedan following them got out and fired at them. They did not shoot back. The Mercedes stopped chasing them when the RAV4 exited the interstate in Woodbury. TL explained he has a friend from New York who has been beefing online with another kid from Minnesota who TL thought was involved with the shooting. TL showed officers Instagram messages from a user “ykwho1amm” who tried to follow TL on Instagram.
