This is a DVC case and a DANCO is being requested. On November 4, 2024, around 0948 hours, Moorhead Police Officers responded to the report of a domestic disturbance at 730 11th Street North, [APT REDACTED] in the City of Moorhead, County of Clay, State of Minnesota. Dispatch reported that K. R. (hereinafter "Victim") and the caller, L. L. Were waiting in [APT REDACTED]. Dispatch reported that the Victim had been choked and the suspect description was a white male, approximately seven feet tall, with short blonde hair, blue eyes and was last seen wearing black sweatpants, sandals and with a backpack.
Ofc. K. Huewe spoke with the Victim, who stated her ex- boyfriend, identified as Adam Michael Almer [DOB REDACTED](hereinafter "Defendant") had come to her apartment the previous night to assist her with some bicycles. The Victim stated that almost immediately after the Defendant arrived, he changed from being nice to being rude to her and she asked him to leave but he stayed the night. The Victim stated that the Defendant slept in the living room and she slept in the bedroom. On the morning of November 4, 2024, the Defendant tried to crawl into bed with the Victim and she tried to kick him out and demanded that he leave.
The Victim [NAME REDACTED] is approximately 5'5", 110 pounds and the Defendant is 6'5", 240 pounds. After the Victim told the Defendant to leave, the Defendant became upset, lashed out at her and grabbed ahold of the Victim's purse, which she had slept with the previous night due to concerns that the Defendant might steal it. As the Defendant grabbed the purse, the Victim began to fight over the purse as it contained "her life." The purse was a smaller, clutch style purse that was blue/turquoise in color and contained the following: $800 in recently withdrawn $20 bills, a pearl white iPhone 14 Pro Max, the Victim's North Dakota issued ID card and her Social Security card.
As the Victim tried to keep her purse from the Defendant, he pushed the Victim [NAME REDACTED] in the north side of the bedroom. Once the Defendant pushed the Victim [NAME REDACTED], he grabbed the Victim [NAME REDACTED] one hand and began to choke her. The Victim described having difficulty breathing and seeing stars while being choked by the Defendant. The Defendant eventually threw the Victim to the ground and began to strike her in the head and kick her on the left side of her ribs. During the assault, the Victim lost control of her bladder and urinated on herself.
After being choked, struck and kicked, the Victim [NAME REDACTED] attempt to have someone call the police. The Defendant then left the scene, taking the Victim's purse and its contents with him. Ofc. Huewe noted the Victim's voice to be hoarse during their conversation and observed red marks and what appeared to be a finger indentation on the Victim's neck/throat. Officers were able to get in contact with the Defendant by phone and he admitted to stealing the Victim's purse. On November 5, 2024, Ofc.
