On March 21, 2026, officers were dispatched to an apartment located in Eden Prairie, Hennepin County, Minnesota, based on a report of a male breaking the windows of the reporting party’s apartment. Officers arrived and located the reporting party, an adult female identified herein as “Victim.” Victim identified the suspect as TAHON DONVONTAE MONTGOMERY [DOB REDACTED] but stated that he had left in his vehicle before police arrived. Officers observed two broken windows in the back of Victim’s apartment.
A large rock was laying inside Victim’s bedroom in a pile of shattered glass. Victim provided a statement to officers and identified MONTGOMERY as her ex-boyfriend. That day, he came to her apartment around 5:00 P.M. And began pounding on her door, but she did not let him inside of her apartment. MONTGOMERY left but then returned to the apartment around 11:00 P.M. This time, he banged on both her outside window and the apartment door. When MONTGOMERY was banging on the window, he was also making threats to kill Victim.
Victim [NAME REDACTED] had been physically abusive to her in the past. MONTGOMERY continued to bang on Victim’s windows and stated that he was going to break in. MONTGOMERY then broke her living room window before throwing a rock through her bedroom window. Victim knew MONTGOMERY to carry a firearm, and she was fearful that he would have shot and killed her if he made entry into her apartment. An investigator checked with the apartment building regarding surveillance video but was told there was none.
When the investigator followed up with Victim on April 10, 2026, she reported that MONTGOMERY had called her from a blocked number on April 9, 2026. She received multiple calls but only answered one, at which point MONTGOMERY immediately started cursing at her, so she hung up. MONTGOMERY also sent her two payment requests for $800 each, with threatening messages. The first stated, “For f—k you hoe watch yo back” followed by a skull emoji and a target emoji. The second stated, “For fck yu two Baldhead lil girl boi” followed by two little finger emojis.
MONTGOMERY is currently out of custody. A warrant complaint is requested so conditions of release can be established.
