On April 20, 2026, law enforcement responded to a domestic assault call located on the 3600 block of Colfax Ave N, in Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota. Call remarks stated that the caller was assaulted by their roommate. Upon arrival, officers met with a known adult male hereinafter Victim. Victim [NAME REDACTED] injuries to his face, neck, and a crooked finger. Victim identified the assailant as his roommate, William Wheeler III, Defendant herein. Victim [NAME REDACTED] was still on scene, in the back yard.
Officers located Defendant in the backyard of the home. Defendant was placed under arrest. Victim [NAME REDACTED] on scene and reported that he was talking to Defendant in the kitchen when Defendant, who was intoxicated, became agitated. Victim tried to leave the kitchen but Defendant would not let him at first. Victim then went upstairs to his room. Defendant followed Victim upstairs and began to scream at him and Victim's father, Witness herein. Victim told Defendant to leave his room. Defendant assaulted Victim, punching him and eventually placing both hands around Victim's neck and strangling him.
Victim [NAME REDACTED] was going to kill him. Victim also reported that his finger was broken from the assault. Medical records are still forthcoming. Additional charges may be added as a result. Defendant is currently in custody.
