On December 6, 2025, TYRONE LORENZ STRAIT [DOB REDACTED] was trespassed from Rosedale Center at 1595 Highway 36, Roseville, Ramsey County for shoplifting. Strait was informed that the trespass remained in effect until December 6, 2026. On January 28, 2026, Officer Amanda Wiethorn responded to JC Penneys at 1595 Highway 36 West, Roseville, Ramsey County on a shoplifter in custody. The store wanted help identifying and trespassing the shoplifter – Strait. Officer Wiethorn got Strait’s name and discovered he had previously been trespassed from the mall in December 2025. Officer Wiethorn told Strait to stand up as he was “under arrest right now.” Strait punched Officer Wiethorn’s face with a closed right fist.
Strait is several inches taller and 60 pounds heavier than Officer Wiethorn. Officer Wiethorn felt her head snap backwards and tingling at the base of her skull where it met her neck. Officer Wiethorn’s vision went completely black, and she saw stars for a few seconds. Officer Wiethorn reported that she could not remember events for a period after Strait punched her. Officer Wiethorn was transported to the hospital where she was diagnosed with a concussion. Officer Wiethorn had bruising developing to her face where Strait punched her.
Strait has 5 prior felony convictions. On January 12, 2023, Strait was sentenced on a felony assault in the fifth degree conviction in Hennepin County District Court file 27-CR-22-19381. Strait assaulted an emergency room nurse and a hospital security guard. On June 27, 2022, Strait was sentenced on a felony assault in the fourth degree in Hennepin County District Court file 27-CR-22-7015. Strait punched a female officer causing her to have significant jaw pain. On June 27, 2022, Strait was sentenced on a felony assault in the fourth degree in Hennepin County District Court file 27-CR-22-2924. Strait spat on an officer who had detained him for shoplifting.
On November 19, 2025, Strait was conditionally released on a gross misdemeanor assault in the fifth degree in Hennepin County District Court file 27-CR-25-23058. Strait punched another patient at Hennepin County Medical Center. Strait is subject to a civil commitment in Hennepin County District Court file 27-MH-PR-25-499.
