K. W. Described driving around looking for them and observing Defendant with a firearm. Defendant said he was going to kill Victim. K. W. Claimed he told Defendant they were just going to fight, and no firearm was needed. K. W. Admitted that a short time later he saw Victim and H. W. Walking, and he got out of the SUV and began to fight Victim. He admitted he observed Defendant shoot Victim "four or five times." After the shooting, K. W. Ran back to the SUV but did not let Defendant get into the vehicle.
Defendant then fled on foot. On December 16, 2025, investigators received information that Defendant was prepared to turn himself in. Defendant was taken into custody. After receiving the appropriate constitutional warnings, Defendant 2 27-CR-25-31738 Filed in District Court State of Minnesota 12/17/2025 agreed to speak with investigators. Defendant admitted he learned Victim had assaulted and choked his sister. Defendant admitted he went with his brother K. W. In the white SUV to the scene. He admitted his brother was driving and that he was the passenger.
He stated they approached Victim and K. W. Fought Victim. Defendant admitted he shot Victim and stated he shot him because Defendant was “trying to protect my sister.” He stated he did not recall the location where he threw the gun. Defendant also claimed he blacked out during the shooting and could not recall the number of times he shot Victim. Defendant is in custody for this offense. Defendant has an extensive criminal record and is prohibited from firearms possession. His convictions include First Degree Burglary in April 2016, First Degree Aggravated Robbery in January 2019, and Simple Robbery in August 2020.
