On December 10, 20025, at approximately 9:26 P.M., Minneapolis Police officers responded to a ShotSpotter activation and 911 calls reporting the sound of gunfire. Upon arrival, officers located a man in his 20's lying on a sidewalk with life-threatening gunshot wounds. Officers provided immediate medical aid and the male, later identified as TY'WANN ROBINSON ([DOB redacted]), Victim herein, was transported by ambulance to North Memorial Healthcare where he later died. Initial information provided by witnesses was that Victim was walking on the street with his girlfriend, H. W. Herein, when he was approached by two individuals dressed in black who fled the scene.
One individual fled on foot and the other drove away in a white SUV. Investigators obtained video from a nearby building that captured the incident. The video depicts Victim and Witness walking northbound on Emerson Ave North when they are seen being approached by two individuals who arrive in a white SUV. The driver is seen exiting and shortly thereafter engaging in a physical altercation with Victim. The passenger is seen approaching the Victim and driver during the altercation. Victim is seen standing up, and he then turns and appears to run away from the two individuals.
The video depicts the passenger raise his arm in the Victim's direction and a muzzle flash as Victim falls to the ground. The shooter/passenger then approaches Victim as Victim is lying on the ground and it appears the shooter fires the gun at least one more time. The video shows the two individuals run back to the SUV; the driver gets in and drives away while the passenger flees on foot. An autopsy was conducted on Victim and revealed he was shot five times throughout his body including in his arm, side and in his back.
Investigators used license plate reader technology and identified a white GMC Yukon in the area within five minutes of the shooting, with Minnesota License Plate/EPA-481. The registered owner of the vehicle was D. M. Investigators learned that D. M. Was the mother of H. W. ISAAC NATHANIEL CHILDRESS ([DOB redacted]), Defendant herein, and K. W., were identified as sons of D. M., and brothers of H. W. Investigators learned that Victim and H. W. Had an extensive domestic violence history and had a Domestic Abuse No Contact Order between them.
Officers spoke with H. W. Who admitted that earlier that night, Victim had assaulted and choked her. H. W. Called her mother, D. M., and told her what happened. H. W. Stated that later that night she was walking with Victim when she observed her brother K. W. Walking behind them and soon began fighting Victim. H. W. Said that Defendant was also present, and that Defendant shot and killed Victim. H. W. Denied calling her brothers to come to the scene. Officers spoke with K. W. Who stated that he and Defendant were with their mother when she received a phone call from his sister, detailing that Victim had just assaulted her.
