On or about October 2, 2025, Minneapolis police responded to [ADDRESS REDACTED], Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota. The caller reported being assaulted by her ex-boyfriend, later identified as Richard Vine Runningshield ([DOB REDACTED]) "Defendant" herein. Police arrived and made contact with the victim. She told officers that she has been a victim of domestic violence numerous times by Defendant. She said today Defendant and victim were in the apartment hallway when the fighting occurred, and defendant then pulled out a small hammer.
Defendant raised the hammer in the air and threatened her with it. She was scared because he had assaulted her with a larger hammer in the past. The parties then went into the stairwell and defendant slammed a metal door onto the victim's hand numerous times with the door. The Victim's hand had marks and cuts. She said they have been on and off dating for a significant amount of time. Defendant was gone when police arrived but learned that he also lives in the building. Defendant currently has an active warrant for failing to appear for sentencing in court file ••-CR-••-••••. Defendant plead guilty to Threats of Violence in ••-CR-••-••••, which involved defendant threatening multiple victims with a hammer.
Defendant also has multiple pending domestic related charges, including: - GMD DANCO Violation (••-CR-••-••••) - GMD Domestic Assault and DANCO Violation (••-CR-••-••••) - Felony Threats of Violence (••-CR-••-••••) - GMD Domestic Assault, OFP Violation, Theft, Disorderly Conduct (••-CR-••-••••) - MSD Domestic Assault-Harm, MSD Domestic Assalt-Fear, Disorderly Conduct (••-CR-••-••••). Defendant poses a threat to victim & public safety. The State respectfully requests a warrant issued with this complaint.
