45 am, Douglas County Sheriff’s Deputy Perez was on patrol, southbound on Highway 29 in Douglas County, MN when he observed a vehicle displaying MN/TFT099. A license plate check showed the registered owner as SHANNON ELAINE KAWLEWSKI, [DOB REDACTED] (“Defendant”). It also showed the Defendant’s driving status was revoked and there were two active warrants for her arrest. Dep. Perez observed the driver, and Defendant appeared to be the same person and conducted a traffic stop. As Dep. Perez approached the vehicle, he called the Defendant by her first name, and she asked if the traffic stop was about the warrant.
Dep. Perez indicated it was, but also because her license was revoked. The Defendant was placed under arrest, and an inventory search of the vehicle was conducted. During the search, law enforcement located a pill bottle with the Defendant’s name on it in a coat pocket within reach of the Defendant. Inside the pill bottle, law enforcement located multiple baggies containing a white crystalline substance. All of the baggies field tested positive for methamphetamine and contained a total of approximately 1 gram of presumptive methamphetamine.
Law enforcement located a second pill bottle inside the Defendant’s purse. This pill bottle has someone else’s name on it and contained multiple Hydroxyzine pills.
