On November 2, 2025, officers with the Minneapolis Police Department were dispatched to a stolen vehicle at 26th Street East and Cedar Avenue, Minneapolis, Hennepin County. The vehicle was a Honda CRV bearing Minnesota license plate [PLATE REDACTED]. Officers noted that the vehicle was parked, but occupied by an individual slumped over in the driver’s seat. Officers initially identified the occupant as JACOB JOEL-ROCK MAYOKOK [DOB REDACTED], because they could see his name on a Hennepin County Jail wristband he was wearing.
Officers attempted to wake the Defendant, including by using their sirens and horns. Officers then opened the door and Defendant woke immediately when the door was opened. Defendant was arrested and informed officers he had ingested a gram of fentanyl about ten minutes earlier. Officers spoke with the owner of the Honda who said the car was stolen on October 30, 2025. He was assisting a friend with a jump, and the keys were in the ignition. When they were checking the friend’s car they looked up and someone got into his car and drove it away.
The victim does not know the Defendant. Defendant was transported to the hospital but is now in custody. In a Miranda statement, Defendant claimed the Honda was his and he had been driving it for several months. Defendant claimed he had gotten the car from a dealership in Mexico, but then claimed the vehicle had been stolen, taken to Mexico, and returned to the dealership that he declined to identify.
