He claimed that he later drove it to Fairview and University and returned the keys to the owner. BURGIN said he did not have the car and that the Detective would have to figure out where it was. BURGIN denied that he was driving the Lincoln “today” ([DOB REDACTED]) near the Sun Ray shopping center. BURGIN then hung up. 2 62-CR-26-1468 Filed in District Court State of Minnesota 3/4/2026 St. Paul (CN 26033077) Later that same day, on 3/2/2026 at about 1650 hours, St. Paul Police were approached by JJW near Stillwater Ave and Van Dyke St in St. Paul, Ramsey County.
JJW reported that a suspect, later identified as BURGIN, robbed his girlfriend, ANJ, at her apartment. ANJ’s apartment is less than 2 miles from the Sun Ray shopping Center. Police spoke to JJW and ANJ. ANJ said that at about 1520 hours, BURGIN followed to her apartment building at [ADDRESS REDACTED] in St. Paul, Ramsey County, entered her apartment, told her that he was “going to take her s***,” snatched her keys from her hand, threatened to shoot her, and then stole her 2007 GMC Yukon (MN/SAW428). ANJ said she called police and then she and JJW went looking for her vehicle.
She and JJW spotted BURGIN driving the Yukon near Ruth St and Old Hudson Rd. As they followed him, BURGIN began waving a gun out the window. At an intersection, JJW used his vehicle to block BURGIN in, got out, and confronted BURGIN. When BURGIN exited the Yukon, JJW was able to jump into the Yukon’s driver’s seat and drive off, leaving BURGIN walking. ANJ and JJW provided police a description of BURGIN, including his distinctive face tattoos, and said they last saw him near White Bear Ave, and 7th St. Police checked the area, spotted BURGIN, and arrested him.
A show-up was conducted and JJW and ANJ both positively identified BURGIN. Police conducted a Mirandized interview with a female, JDH, who was with BURGIN. She said BURGIN picked her up driving the Yukon at Walgreens on Old Hudson Rd.
