On November 12, 2025, at approximately 5:06 PM, detective Myers of the Woodbury Department of Public Safety was dispatched on report of a known shoplifter present at the Target store in the City of Woodbury, County of Washington, State of Minnesota. The detective arrived as employees were escorting the male suspect to the loss prevention office. The suspect was identified as NICHOLAS FWJCHIM YANG, [DOB REDACTED], hereinafter "Defendant." Target employees advised Defendant is known to "ticket switch" items, meaning he replaces the barcode on a product with a different barcode that causes the self-checkout to read a lower price than it should At the time of the contact, additional barcodes were located on Defendant's person.
Loss prevention employees advised Defendant was known to commit the following thefts using this method: -On 10/19/2025 at approximately 9:05 AM, Defendant scanned items with false bardcodes, causing a loss of $50. -On 10/19/2025 at approximately 9:09 AM, Defendant scanned items with false bardcodes, causing a loss of $45. -On 10/19/2025 at approximately 11:32 AM, Defendant scanned items with false bardcodes, causing a loss of $45. -On 10/19/2025 at approximately 4:15 PM, Defendant scanned items with false bardcodes, causing a loss of $90. -On 10/22/2025 at approximately 9:36 PM, Defendant scanned items with false bardcodes, causing a loss of $45. -On 10/28/2025 at approximately 7:58 PM, Defendant scanned items with false bardcodes, causing a loss of $45. -On 10/30/2025 at approximately 4:42 PM, Defendant scanned items with false bardcodes, causing a loss of $123. -On 11/12/2025 at approximately 4:52 PM, Defendant scanned items with false bardcodes, causing a loss of $70 The total aggregated loss to Target is $513.
