On May 25, 2026, Minnesota State Patrol Troopers were working the afternoon shift in Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota, when dispatch advised that several motorcycles were traveling northbound on Interstate State Highway 494 from Minnesota Trunk Highway 62 at a high rate of speed. Troopers observed three motorcycles speeding northbound on Interstate State Highway 494 near Minnesota Trunk Highway 55. As the motorcycles approached the Rockford Road exit, the rear motorcycle, later identified through Minnesota Driver and Vehicle Services records as being operated by Jose Adrian Govea Jr. ([DOB REDACTED], hereafter “Defendant”), appeared to hesitate after seeing Troopers.
Troopers observed Defendant’s motorcycle did not display a license plate. Defendant crossed the exit gore point and accelerated northbound on Interstate State Highway 494 at a high rate of speed. Troopers activated emergency lights and sirens, but Defendant continued fleeing. Troopers observed Defendant wearing a white helmet, white shirt, black shorts, and riding a motorcycle with distinct, teal- colored rims. During the pursuit, Defendant passed vehicles on the shoulder and eventually exited toward eastbound Interstate State Highway 694. Defendant drove off the roadway into a grassy area, traveled up an embankment, and then drove the wrong direction on the ramp, entering westbound Interstate State Highway 94 in the eastbound lanes.
Due to the danger to the public, Troopers discontinued the pursuit. Approximately 30 minutes later, officers located Defendant at a car meetup in Plymouth, Minnesota. Troopers confirmed Defendant matched the suspect description and observed him sitting next to a white CF Moto sport motorcycle with teal rims and a white helmet nearby. Defendant was placed under arrest and advised of his Miranda rights. When asked why he fled, Defendant stated, “I don’t have a plate.” Troopers confirmed Defendant fled because the motorcycle did not have a license plate, and Defendant responded, “Yeah.” Troopers identified the motorcycle by VIN as a 2025 CF Moto 675SS bearing Minnesota license plate [PLATE REDACTED]. Defendant was confirmed to be the registered owner.
Defendant was transported to the Hennepin County Jail. Defendant is currently in custody.
