At approximately 8:00 AM on December 26, 2025, Deputy VanderPlas of the Carver County Sheriff’s Office was performing routine patrol in the area of County Road 10 and County Road 11 in Laketown Township, Carver County. At that time he observed a vehicle that his squad radar confirmed to be traveling 70 miles per hour in a 55 mile per hour posted zone. Deputy VanderPlas turned around and got behind the vehicle. The vehicle turned right onto County Road 11 without coming to a complete stop. Deputy VanderPlas then activated his emergency lights.
The vehicle continued to drive south without slowing and drove onto the fog line and center line. Deputy VanderPlas activated his siren and the vehicle continued to drive away from him. The vehicle continued to speed at over 90 miles per hour and pass other vehicles in a no-passing zone by driving into oncoming traffic’ the pursuit was terminated due to safety concerns. Deputies responded to the residence of the registered owner and spoke with A. C. Deputies ultimately learned that A. C.’s wife, Genesis Narmi Charmelo Colina [DOB REDACTED], hereinafter Defendant, had been driving the vehicle.
Deputy Vanderplas called Defendant and spoke to her using the language line. Defendant admitted to driving the vehicle and fleeing from him because she believed he was an ICE agent. Defendant stated she had parked the vehicle near the residence and walked to Aldi; State Patrol had located the vehicle on a nearby street. Defendant was subsequently located and taken into custody.
