On September 19, 2025, before 11:45 A.M., a male walked into Best Buy, [ADDRESS REDACTED] D E, Maplewood, County of Ramsey, and stole a black PC gaming system valued at $1, 729.00. Staff CM described the male as Black male, 20-30 years old, wearing black pants, black shirt, black shoes, and sunglasses. CM said the male is known to staff and has shoplifted at the store before. Video of the incident showed the suspect vehicle for September 19th theft as a 2008 back Saturn Aura, Minnesota license plate JPT 148. PB is the registered owner of the suspect vehicle.
He did not match the theft suspect. KEITH LAMONT NELSON, [DOB REDACTED], was a suspect in a different Best Buy theft, CN 25024867, offense date 09/02/25. In the 09/02/25 case, the suspect vehicle used was registered to NELSON. Investigator Marino reviewed video of the theft on 09/02/25 and video from the theft on 09/19/2025, and identified NELSON as the suspect. The tattoos on the suspect match tattoos that NELSON has. In video from the theft on 09/19/2025, the suspect vehicle parked in the parking lot.
NELSON exited the vehicle and walked into the store. The suspect vehicle moved to the exterior doors. There appeared to be two people in the front seats. The front passenger appeared to be a White female. The driver was possibly a Black male. NELSON went to a display, selected the PC gaming system, and walked out of the store with the item. Someone inside the vehicle opened the right rear door. NELSON entered the back seat. The vehicle drove away. PB, the registered owner of suspect vehicle in 09/19 theft said his daughter’s ex-boyfriend is MW, had been driving the vehicle for many months.
On November 13, 2025, MW spoke to Investigator Marino. MW denied being in the vehicle. He also said he did not recognize NELSON. NELSON has an active warrant in file 62-CR-25-9464.
