On November 1, 2025, Clay County Sheriff's Sergeant S. Mork responded to a report of an assault on a correctional officer that occurred on or about October 31, 2025 within the Clay County Jail. On that day, Correctional Officer I. M. J. Was working at the jail, and observed MICHAEL LEE DUMONT (DOB: 12232004), hereinafter the Defendant, to be 'catcalling' a female inmate cleaning outside the day room the Defendant was in. I. M. J. Ordered the Defendant to return to his cell, and the Defendant refused.
The Defendant refused to return to his cell. I. M. J. Then entered the day room, and attempted to escort the Defendant back to his cell. The Defendant continued to refuse, and was pepper sprayed in the face. As this occurred, the Defendant punched I. M. J. In the face and took up a fighting stance. The Defendant was soon after restrained and returned to his cell. The Defendant has at least two prior convictions for domestic violence related offenses dated May of 2023 and March of 2025.
