On September 8, 2025, Det. Sorenson of the Mower County Sheriff's Office obtained a search warrant for the residence of KENNETH RAY NIGHTINGALE, DOB/091482, the defendant herein, located at [ADDRESS REDACTED] West, in the City of LeRoy, County of Mower. The search warrant was part of a burglary investigation that occurred in Stacyville, lowa. On September 9, 2025, Det. Sorenson, Sgt. Rueb, and other law enforcement officers went to the defendant's residence to execute the warrant. Sorenson approached the residence and made contact with the defendant.
Sorenson advised the defendant that he had a search warrant for his residence, garage, and vehicle that was parked in the driveway. Prior to entering the residence, Sorenson asked the defendant if they would locate any of the stolen items listed in the search warrant. The defendant stated that he still had a Milwaukee drill from the burglary inside his vehicle. Sorenson then asked if there was anything else illegal that would be located during the search. The defendant advised that he had a small bag of methamphetamine and a pipe in his front pocket.
The defendant removed the items and gave them to Sorenson. The methamphetamine later field tested positive for methamphetamine and weighed 0.9 grams. During the search, items related to the burglary were seized and turned over to Mitchell County deputies as part of their investigation. The defendant was placed under arrest and transported to the Mower County Jail.
