On 10-27-2025, law enforcement received a report of a burglary at a residence located on the 3200 block of 16th Avenue South, City of Minneapolis, County of Hennepin, State of Minnesota. Victim [NAME REDACTED] intrusion in their detached garage. Victim [NAME REDACTED] was video surveillance inside the garage. Video surveillance showed the suspect, later identified as LUIS ALBERTO ARIZA [DOB REDACTED], Defendant herein, use a tool to remove siding off the north wall of the garage, and a hammer device to break a lock that was attached to a scooter.
Defendant then took the scooter. Victim reported the tools were left on scene. Victim further reported that an Apple Airtag was attached to the scooter and tracked it to the 3000 block of 18th Avenue South. Victim further reported that the observed Defendant and recognized him as the person in the video. On 11-03-2025, law enforcement was on routine patrol in the area of Lake Street East and 17th Avenue South when they observed an individual who matched Defendant’s physical description. Defendant was also wearing the same clothes.
Law enforcement then stopped Defendant and he initially gave them a name different from his own. Defendant told law enforcement that he had taken fentanyl. EMS was requested and Defendant was transported to HCMC. Defendant had a black bag, which appeared to be the same bag he was wearing during the burglary, slung over his shoulder. There was a large wooden handle sticking out of the bag, which was found to be an axe. Law enforcement searched Defendant for more weapons for the safety of the paramedics.
Law enforcement found three (3) live.22 caliber rounds. Law enforcement learned the Defendant had a felony warrant out of Hennepin County. Law enforcement further learned that Defendant is prohibited from possessing firearm/ammo due to prior felony convictions for Burglary – 2nd Deg. Dwelling and Threats of Violence. (see Court File No. 27-CR-23-23866). Defendant was arrested and remains in custody.
