On November 5, 2025, Moorhead Police Officer J. Eggert observed a blue Chevrolet Silverado - Minnesota license plates RYB522 - travelling at a high rate of speed in Moorhead, Clay County, Minnesota. Officer Eggert turned his squad vehicle around and began following the blue Silverado. The Silverado continued traveling at approximately 53 miles per hour in a 30 mile per hour speed zone. When Officer Eggert was approximately one block behind the SIlverado, he activated his squad vehicle's emergency lights and siren.
No other vehicles were between Officer Eggert and the suspect vehicle. The vehicle continued travelling and made no effort to stop. The vehicle made a left turn onto Belsly Boulevard, whereupon Officer Eggert lost visual contact with the Silverado. Moorhead Police Sgt. Schultz searched the vehicle in law enforcement databases, which showed the registered owner of the vehicle as TAITE AVERY SHORES, [DOB REDACTED], hereinafter "Defendant". Sgt. Schultz also found traffic camera footage showing Defendant's vehicle traveling in the same area at the same time as the fleeing reported by Officer Eggert.
Sgt. Schultz went to the listed address of Defendant and found the suspect vehicle in the parking lot of the residence. Officer Eggert and Officer Halvorson went to Defendant's apartment and made contact with him. Defendant stated the blue Silverado was his and admitted to driving it that day.
