On March 6, 2026, at approximately 3:26 P.M., officers of the Austin Police Department were dispatched to the Twin Towers located at 200 1st Avenue NE in the City of Austin, County of Mower, on a report of an assault. Just prior to being dispatched, Officer Hullopeter heard Austin Fire Personnel request law enforcement assistance at the Twin Towers as they were responding to a fire alarm. It was then reported that one of the Fire Department members was assaulted while responding to the fire alarm.
Officer Hullopeter arrived and observed an Austin Firefighter, Victim A (an adult male), in the lobby holding a male on the ground. Victim A stated that the male, identified as OBUDWOK OCHOT AKUCH, DOB/010571, the defendant herein, punched him. Victim A told Hullopeter that the Fire Department was dispatched to the Twin Towers for a fire alarm. Victim A stated that he was in the entry way at the alarm panel when the defendant walked in through the front doors and was staring at him. Victim A said the defendant then wound up and punched him in the face with his right fist.
Victim A said that he was able to turn his head when the punch was thrown and he was struck in the ear. Victim A said that after he was punched, he grabbed the defendant and pushed him into the wall and took him to the ground. Victim A stated that he did not hit the defendant. Victim A stated that when the defendant was on the ground, he told Victim A that “I’m out of my mind.” Hullopeter observed Victim A to have a cut on his left ear that was bleeding. Hullopeter photographed Victim A’s injuries.
Officer Keesey asked the defendant what had happened and he did not respond. The defendant was placed under arrest and later transported to the Mower County Jail. Officer Keesey then made contact with the building’s employee, S. E. (an adult male). S. E. Provided Keesey with security footage of the incident. Keesey reviewed the footage and observed Victim A in the main entry of the Twin Towers near the fire alarm panel. The defendant is then seen entering the building through the front doors and punches Victim A in the face.
Victim A and the defendant then tussle and end up on the ground until law enforcement arrives.
