On or about December 15, 2025, Maple Grove police responded to a threats call from an apartment complex on the 13000 block of Maple Knoll Way in Maple Grove, Hennepin County, Minnesota. The reporting party, A. B. (“Victim” herein) told officers that he was outside of the apartment complex’s parking garage with his dog when a male, later identified as NIKITA DOLGUSHIN (“Defendant” herein), exited his car and said, “f*** you” repeatedly to Victim. Victim [NAME REDACTED] had seen Defendant before because Defendant lived in the apartment complex, but Victim had never spoken to Defendant before this interaction.
Defendant yelled at Victim [NAME REDACTED], and Defendant took out his cellphone and seemingly took a photo of Victim’s dog. Victim [NAME REDACTED] inside of the garage with his dog. Victim [NAME REDACTED] at the top of the first level of stairs when he noticed Defendant had followed him into the garage. Defendant “flicked out” a small pocketknife with a 4–5-inch blade, pointed it at Victim, [NAME REDACTED], “come here.” Victim reported this made him feel confused, upset, and scared. Victim went inside his apartment unit with his dog and called police.
Officers spoke with Defendant. Defendant stated he had gone outside that day to warm up his car, and he saw his neighbor, Victim, letting his dog go to the bathroom in an inappropriate place. Defendant stated he talked to Victim and told Victim to use the designated place for dogs to go to the bathroom, and this started an argument. Defendant said both he and Victim stepped into the garage space, and Victim let the dog face Defendant in “attack mode.” Defendant admitted he showed Victim [NAME REDACTED] had a knife, but Defendant claimed he was trying to defend himself from Victim’s dog.
Defendant told officers he followed Victim [NAME REDACTED] was trying to talk about Victim’s dog. Officers reviewed dash camera footage from Defendant’s car. This footage showed Victim walking outside with his dog. Victim’s dog urinated on a snow pile. Defendant then got out of his car, yelled something at Victim, and threw his arms up. Defendant appeared to take a photo of Victim’s dog on his cellphone. Victim [NAME REDACTED]. Defendant re-entered the driver’s side of his car, and Victim walked inside of the garage and up a set of stairs.
Defendant exited his car again and walked towards the garage. Defendant appeared to take something out of his jacket pocket while walking towards the garage. Defendant entered the garage through the same door Victim used. Victim walked up the first set of stairs to a landing, at which point Defendant opened the garage service door and made a motion towards Victim. Defendant waved his right arm, but the rest of his body was blocked from camera view. Defendant put something back in the upper left portion of his jacket and walked back to his car.
