On September 2, 2025, officers responded to a domestic call in the 3800 block of Hiawatha Avenue in Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota. Upon arrival, officers spoke to the Victim [NAME REDACTED] had just assaulted her. She identified her husband as JAMES DEANDRE JENNINGS [DOB REDACTED], Defendant. The Victim reported that she and Defendant were having relationship issues, so she was living with a friend in the same apartment complex on Hiawatha. That morning, she thought Defendant was at work, so she went to back to their apartment with their 3-week-old child.
The Defendant turned out to be home, and the two got into an argument. Things escalated, and Defendant started yelling and swearing at her. At one point, Defendant began choking her with two hands from the front while stating he was going to kill her. The Defendant then walked to the kitchen area where he had a gun on the island. He picked it up and pointed it at her head while threatening to kill her. Defendant continued to scream obscenities while pointing the gun at her. The Victim [NAME REDACTED] was going to die.
The Defendant then holstered his gun and left the apartment. Their baby was present for the assault. According to the Victim, this was not the first time Defendant threatened her with the gun. Due to the nature of the offense, the State respectfully requests a warrant issue to protect public safety and ensure the Defendant’s presence in court.
