At approximately 4:30 PM on February 2, 2026, the Carver County Sheriff’s Office respondent to a report on an out of control male at a residence on Morse Street North in the City of Norwood Young America, Carver County. Deputies learned through the reporting party that Joshua Duane Curry [DOB REDACTED], had been drinking excessively and was throwing items around and had made suicidal statements. Specifically, one of the reporting parties indicated Defendant had stated he was going to turn on a propane tank in the garage to blow the house up.
Defendant also attempted to drink gasoline out of a gas can and had to be stopped. Defendant was advised that he was being placed on a transport hold. Defendant provided a preliminary breath sample that resulted in a reading of.235 with paramedics. Shortly thereafter, law enforcement was contacted by C. B., who advised he had been threatened by Defendant earlier in the evening. C. B. Stated he had attempted to keep Defendant from driving his vehicle intoxicated. Defendant allowed C. B. To remove the keys from the vehicle, but later grabbed a firearm from the center console area, racked a round, and pointed it at C. B.’s head.
C. B. Stated he could feel the firearm pressed to his temple. Defendant told C. B. “Who is going to miss you?” C. B. Pleaded with Defendant to stop and Defendant ultimately pointed the gun upwards, at which point C. B. Grabbed the gun and threw it outside the truck. Others indicated they had previously seen a firearm in the center console area of the vehicle. However, when law enforcement executed a search warrant, no firearm was located in the vehicle or nearby. PLEASE TAKE NOTICE: Pursuant to Minn.
