On 12/21/2025, at about 1319 hours, Metro Transit Police were on a Green Line train in St. Paul, Ramsey County when they noted a strong odor of cannabis in the train and saw three people in the back of the train where it appeared foggy/hazy. They approached the group and advised of the consequences of smoking on the train. During the interaction, one of the three, later identified as Joshua Deshawn WILLIAMS, Jr. [DOB REDACTED], reached in his pocket and handed the officer a rolled up blunt with suspected cannabis inside.
WILLIAMS, who was sweating and nervous, then reached in his pocket and pulled out a Ziplock style baggie of suspected cannabis. WILLIAMS identified himself. WILLIAMS had active warrants and was taken into custody. While police were waiting for warrant confirmation, WILLIAMS said he had a gun in his pocket. Police searched his pocket and recovered a loaded Springfield Armory XP5 handgun (Serial # S3149119). Police later determined that the gun was stolen out of St. Paul. When police told WILLIAMS he was going to be booked, WILLIAMS said "I know the gun is clear, I had someone go in the store and get it for me, my white boy, and he's going to do it again, I f*** with him, I don't steal neither". WILLIAMS has prior felony convictions for 2nd Degree Burglary, which make him ineligible to possess a firearm and/or ammunition.
