On December 31, 2025, Ofc. Roline responded to a call for service in the area of 27th Street and 3rd Place NE, and encountered an adult female, fully identified in police reports and hereinafter referred to as “Victim” who stated that defendant herein, Timothy Alvis Gayles [DOB REDACTED] had beat her up. She stated that she was at defendant’s residence, and she told defendant she wanted to leave to go somewhere else. She stated that she confronted defendant about cheating on her, and that he pulled his vehicle into a secluded area near where she encountered Roline.
She stated that defendant got out of the driver’s seat, walked to the passenger side, and started beating her up. She stated that he hit her in the head and face, and that she tried to defend herself. Roline observed a large bump on the right side of Victim’s face, which she stated was fresh from this incident. Roline spoke on the phone with defendant, who stated that Victim [NAME REDACTED] in prior incidents, and asked Roline to locate video footage from Rooster’s bar. Ofc. Bredehoft located defendant’s vehicle in the parking lot of defendant’s apartment.
Bredehoft saw defendant entering the building, and noted that he walked faster as he recognized the squad car. Bredehoft announced that defendant was under arrest, and Defendant responded “for what.” Defendant was again told he was under arrest, but fled into an apartment. Defendant closed himself in the apartment and refused to exit. Defendant could be heard speaking on the phone to victim, which Bredehoft understood as threats that he would assault her if he was arrested. Defendant stated that victim had hit him first when she found out he cheated on her.
Officers rammed the door to the apartment to apprehend defendant, as he refused to come out of the apartment. A neighbor was near the apartment when Defendant was brought out to the squad car, and defendant stated that neighbor had seen victim [NAME REDACTED]. The neighbor denied seeing anything, only that he’s heard both defendant and victim yelling. Defendant has two prior convictions for Qualified Domestic Violence Related Offenses, in court file 55-CR- 17-4327 convicted on 08/02/2018 and ••-CR-••-•••• convicted on 06/08/2017. FAILURE TO APPEAR FOR COURT IS A CRIMINAL OFFENSE AND MAY RESULT IN ADDITIONAL CRIMINAL CHARGES BEING IMPOSED AND PUNISHED AS PROVIDED IN MINNESOTA STATUTES SECTION 609.49.
