On April 4, 2026, at about 6:24 P.M., Crystal Police responded to a 911 call reporting a potential domestic assault at a residence on the 5500 block of Toledo Avenue N in Crystal, Hennepin County. Officers arrived and observed a male and female in the driveway. They approached the male, later identified as JASON ALLEN SHACKELTON [DOB REDACTED], Defendant herein, and conducted a weapons frisk, finding no weapons on his person. The female was identified as the 911 caller, KM herein. Officers met her inside the house and observed she was bleeding from the face and her nose was noticeably swollen.
When asked about the blood, KM stated it was "because [Defendant] smacked me." KM was also noticeably distraught and had a hard time sitting still. KM reported that Defendant had been upset with her, and she covered her face as he approached her because she was scared he was going to hurt her. He then "just wound up and smacked [her]." KM also reported that Defendant had stated at one point during the day, "Alright, I'm getting a gun." This scared KM because she did not know what Defendant's intentions were in saying that.
Both KM and Defendant had been drinking during the night. KM felt increasingly unwell while police were there and reported nausea, dizziness, and headache. She vomited several times, and it was unclear whether she vomited up blood or if the blood was from her nose bleeding again. KM was taken via ambulance for medical attention. Defendant was arrested, and, in a search incident to arrest, officers recovered 3 grams of field-test positive cocaine from Defendant's pocket. Defendant is currently in custody at Hennepin County Jail.
