On January 14, 2025, at approximately 1:30 A.M., officers of the Robbinsdale Police Department were conducting routine vehicle patrol when they observed a white 2003 Cadillac CTS (MN LIC# TAB744) travelling on West Broadway, City of Robbinsdale, Hennepin County, Minnesota. The operator was later identified as TERRANCE JAMES JOHNSON [DOB REDACTED] DEFENDANT herein. Officers indicated their attention was brought to the vehicle when they observed the left rear brake light was inoperable. Officers attempted to conduct a routine traffic stop in the area of Broadway and 29th Avenue N. In Robbinsdale by activating their emergency lights.
The vehicle did not stop, requiring the officers to activate their siren. This caused DEFENDANT to accelerate with officers in pursuit at speeds approaching 70 mph in a 30-mph zone along Broadway. During the pursuit, DEFENDANT drove through two controlled intersections at Penn Ave. N. And then again at Logan Ave. N. DEFENDANT then lost control of the vehicle, drove over a raised median and entered the oncoming lanes of traffic, and came to rest. Officers directed DEFENDANT and a passenger to exit the vehicle, and both initially complied.
However, once DEFENDANT was out of the vehicle, he disregarded officer’s commands and fled on foot. DEFENDANT was later located hiding behind a residence with the assistance of K9 and apprehended. DEFENDANT is presently in custody.
