On or about May 21, 2026, detention deputies working in the Hennepin County Adult Detention Center in Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota responded to an assault in the dayroom of Quad 6. When deputies arrived in the dayroom, they observed A. N. S. (“Victim” herein) and the dayroom covered in what appeared to be feces. Victim told deputies that DESHAWN BRASSON (“Defendant” herein) had hit him for “no apparent reason.” Deputies saw Defendant had run into Victim’s cell and closed the door following the assault.
Defendant destroyed Victim’s property inside the cell. Deputies instructed Defendant to exit Victim’s cell, and he complied. Defendant was moved to a different housing unit. Deputies reviewed video footage of the dayroom area. The video showed Victim sitting at a table in the dayroom playing cards at approximately 3:50 P.M. Defendant then walked up to Victim [NAME REDACTED] in the head. Defendant took a milk carton filled with suspected feces and threw the carton at Victim. Victim [NAME REDACTED] from Defendant.
Victim [NAME REDACTED] in what appeared to be a verbal altercation, and then Defendant picked up a trash can and threw it at Victim, [NAME REDACTED]. Victim picked up the trash can and used it to block Defendant from hitting him again. Defendant then ran into Victim’s cell, where he ripped up Victim’s commissary. Victim [NAME REDACTED] in the head and feeling dizzy and was transported to the hospital for further care. Defendant has been convicted of the following previous qualified domestic violence-related offenses within the last three years: ••-CR-••-••••: convicted of gross misdemeanor fifth-degree assault in violation of Minn.
Stat. § 609.224, subd. 2(a) on or about February 18, 2026 ••-CR-••-••••: convicted of felony third-degree assault in violation of Minn. Stat. § 609.223, subd. 1 on or about April 19, 2024 ••-CR-••-••••: convicted of felony threats of violence in violation of Minn. Stat. § 609.713, subd. 1 on or about April 19, 2024 The State requests a warrant issue to ensure Defendant’s appearance and receipt of the charges against him. Defendant is currently in custody at the Hennepin County Adult Detention Center.
