On December 8, 2025, at approximately 3:47 pm, officers were dispatched to a report of a domestic assault at a residence on 56th Street NW in Rochester, Olmsted County, Minnesota. Witness 1 (adult female identified in police reports) reported that she received a text message from her nine year old niece, Victim 1 herein. In the text Victim 1stated her father, DAVID CHAN VANNADEE [DOB REDACTED], would not let her or her mother Victim 2, out of the bedroom. Witness 1 went up to the room and heard what she believed to be a gagging noise.
Witness 1 stated she was too scared to open the door and called police right away. Victim 1 told Officer Roussell that she had been in her mom’s room with her mother and VANNADEE came into the room. Victim 2 told VANNADEE that she did not want to cuddle which led to a confrontation. Victim 1 stated VANNADEE was holding Victim 2. Victim 1 tried to push VANNADEE off her mother. VANNADEE then threatened to throw a brick at Victim 2’s car window. Victim 1 said she was really scared during the incident.
Victim 2 told officers that VANNADEE came into the room and asked her for a ride. Victim 2 told VANNADEE no. Victim 2 also told VANNADEE she did not want him in the room because both she and Victim 1 are afraid of him. Victim 2 stated VANNADEE began threatening to destroy her stuff. VANNADEE got on top of her and began restraining her while she was laying on the bed and prevented her from leaving. Victim 2 stated she tried to get up and VANNADEE grabbed her, sat in front of the door, and prevented her from leaving.
Victim 2 confirmed Victim 1 was trying to push VANNADEE during the incident and texted her aunt for help. Victim 2 stated she was scared and wanted to leave. Victim 2 confirmed that she shares two children with VANNADEE, Victim 1 and one other child [NAME REDACTED] during the incident. Victim 2 stated she was not married to VANNADEE and further confirmed that they live together. Officer Sillers contacted VANNADEE via phone because he was barricaded in the basement. VANNADEE acknowledged he had been upstairs and that it caused Victim 2 anxiety.
VANNADEE stated 3 ••-CR-••-•••• Filed in District Court State of Minnesota 12/10/2025 he just sat on the floor by the door on his phone. VANNADEE denied sitting in front of the door, rather he sat next to the door inside the room. VANNADEE has one prior qualified domestic violence related offense conviction in court file 55-CR-24- 2614 (disposition date: 01/27/2025).
