On November 6, 2025, at approximately 12:42 A.M., a Minnesota State Trooper was on patrol when the trooper observed a vehicle weaving in its lane and then start to weave over lane lines. The trooper initiated a stop of the vehicle (IL Plate: [PLATE REDACTED]) on westbound I‐94 near Dowling Avenue, in the City of Minneapolis, County of Hennepin, State of Minnesota. The trooper approached the vehicle and observed the driver had rolled down the backseat windows. The trooper made contact with the driver, later identified as Rodney A Buckles [DOB REDACTED], Defendant herein.
While speaking with Defendant, the trooper smelled the odor of consumed alcohol coming from the vehicle with all the windows down. Defendant indicated where he was coming from, and the trooper asked Defendant about alcohol consumption. Defendant admitted to having one beer about three hours ago. Defendant was asked to submit to field sobriety tests. During these tests, the trooper observed clues of impairment. Defendant provided a breath sample for the preliminary breath test (PBT), which showed an alcohol concentration of 0.106. Defendant was placed under arrest for DWI. Defendant was transported to Hennepin County Jail.
The trooper read the Motor Vehicle Breath Test Advisory to Defendant. Defendant indicated he understood the advisory and agreed to take the breath test. At 1:44 A.M., Defendant provided a breath test that revealed an alcohol concentration of 0.11.
