On December 3, 2025, officers with the Minneapolis Police Department were on routine detail monitoring Milestone cameras in the area of 17th Street East and Chicago Avenue, Minneapolis, Hennepin County. At approximately 11:00 A.M., Officers saw two vehicles parked and saw that the occupants had contact with one another. One of the vehicles was a silver Ford Fusion and the front passenger was identified as JONATHAN MCBORROUGH WESSEH, [DOB REDACTED], “Defendant” herein. The other identified vehicle was a gray Hyundai sedan.
Officers watched as Defendant approached the Hyundai, and then as unknown individuals from the Hyundai approached Defendant seated in the Ford and observed multiple suspected drug transactions. The Ford left the area after about 35 minutes but then returned at approximately 1:48 P.M. At approximately 2:00 P.M. Officers were able to see that Defendant was still in the front passenger seat. Officers then went to the area and initiated a traffic stop and removed Defendant from the vehicle. During a search of his person, they located a large amount of a bagged leafy green material that did not appear to be marijuana.
Defendant said that it was “K2.” Defendant’s identification of the substance was consistent with the officer’s training and experience. Officers also located $265 in cash, including small crumpled up bills. Officers recovered from the driver’s seat another small baggie of suspected K2 and a box of clear plastic baggies. In a statement, Defendant admitted that he was selling K2 for money and said he was only charging a couple of dollars. The substance was further investigated and found to be 6 individual clear plastic baggies of various sizes, the total weight with packaging was approximately 60 grams.
One of the baggies field tested positive for one or, or a mixture of the following compounds of synthetic cannabinoids: JWH-200, AM-2201, JWH-018, JWH-073, and JWH-081, and are schedule I controlled substances as defined in Minn. Stat. 152.025, subd. 2(h)(3). The mixture also included AB-001, XLR-11, and UR-144, Defendant is currently in custody.
