D. L. Reported that approximately one month earlier he observed snowmobile and foot tracks on his property. D. L. Reported that he followed the tracks to 6532 47th Street Southeast and confronted the homeowner, K. S., [DOB REDACTED]. K. S. Told the homeowner he would tell his son, later identified as EMERY SCOTT SCHWARZKOPF, [DOB REDACTED], EMERY herein, to stay away from the property.
On March 15, 2026, a resident of Haven Township, Sherburne County, reported that he had observed a snowmobile traveling through one of his fields that contained irrigators, a common source of copper wires. The resident reported that it was dark outside, but that the snowmobile did not have its light activated. The resident followed the snowmobile tracks to 6532 47th Street Southeast. Law enforcement responded and confirmed the tracks. Sergeant Austin Turner of the Sherburne County Sheriff’s Office began an investigation into EMERY SCHWARZKOPF and learned he has a residence in Foley, Minnesota.
Sgt. Turner learned from the Foley Police Department that they had received information that EMERY was often picked up in a large black truck, which was later confirmed to be registered to TIMOTHY RANDALL SCHWARZKOPF, [DOB REDACTED], TIMOTHY herein, a known associate of EMERY. Sgt. Turner obtained technology search warrants and learned that EMERY and TIMOTHY were in frequent, regular communication, and that EMERY was in the area of 6532 47th St. SE, Haven Township, EMERY’S parents’ residence, during the time the suspicious person was observed on March 15, 2026. On March 23, 2026, Sgt.
Turner executed a search warrant for TIMOTHY’S vehicle YCB3977, and located it traveling in Santiago Township, Sherburne County. TIMOTHY was in the driver’s seat. EMERY was in the passenger seat. They both admitted that they had just returned from Wisconsin to sell a load of TIMOTHY’s scrap. Sgt. Turner located a receipt in the vehicle showing the scrap of many pounds of copper and that TIMOTHY had earned $3,000 cash. Sgt. Turner confirmed neither TIMOTHY nor EMERY had a license to sell copper as required in the State of Minnesota.
On May 27, 2026, TIMOTHY admitted to using vehicle YCB3977 to transport stolen property including property stolen in two of the pending Sherburne and Benton County burglaries. TIMOTHY admitted the load of copper contained stolen wire he accepted from EMERY as payment for debts. On March 24, 2026, Sgt. Turner executed a search warrant for 6532 47th St. SE in Sherburne County, State of Minnesota. During the search, officers located burn pits that contained copper wire scrap, several firearms confirmed to belong to EMERY, and a pair of boots confirmed to be used by EMERY that appeared to match the tread of the track at D. L.’s property.
