On March 4, 2026, around 10:34 PM, Coon Rapids Police Officers responded to a report of a physical altercation occurring between two brothers at an apartment complex located on Redwood Street NW, Coon Rapids, Anoka County. Dispatch advised they could hear screaming in the background and noted the reporting party, N. R. K. Reported he was “choked and swung back to hit his brother” who was identified as William Frank Kilby III [DOB REDACTED], Defendant herein. N. R. K. Reported that Defendant had left in a vehicle in an unknown direction.
Officers located Defendant driving away from the apartment complex and initiated a traffic stop. Defendant was upset and admitted to getting into an argument with his brother, N. R. K. He said he grabbed N. R. K. By his sweater near the upper part of the chest area and was yelling and swearing at him before N. R. K. Punched him in the head and he left the scene. Upon arrival at the apartment complex, officers spoke with N. R. K. And his mother, N. M. K. Officers observed red marks on N. R. K.’s neck and he was crying.
N. R. K. Said he and Defendant got into an argument over Defendant’s girlfriend. The argument started in Defendant’s bedroom but continued into the hallway when N. R. K. Stepped out. While in the hallway, Defendant continued to yell and then grabbed N. R. K. By the throat, picked him up and began strangling him. N. R. K. Said his feet left the ground and he was unable to breathe. N. R. K. Tried to fight back and was able to hit Defendant in his temple, at which point Defendant let go and backed up into his bedroom.
N. M. K. Said she did not see the start of the argument but did see both of her sons with their hands on each other. Specifically, N. M. K. Said Defendant had one hand around N. R. K.’s throat and N. R. K. Punched Defendant in what looked to be an effort to get him to let go.
