On November 10, 2025, Minneapolis Police responded to a forgery report at Woodland National Bank, located at [ADDRESS REDACTED] East in Minneapolis, Hennepin County. Police arrived and spoke with the reporting party D. P. Who stated there was a person using fraudulent checks, going to multiple branches, and provided a description. The male suspect was identified as PHILIP BENJAMIN [DOB REDACTED], Defendant herein. D. P. Stated Defendant came into the bank on October 28, 2025, around 11:03 A.M. And deposited a fake check.
D. P. Stated Defendant was paid for the check. D. P. Reported Defendant came into the bank again on November 3, 2025, and attempted to deposit another forged check, but was not successful. D. P. Reported the bank contacted the businesses on the checks and was advised by the employees that the checks were counterfeit. The police collected both checks from D. P., both were written out to Defendant. One check was from Custom Lawns Care, dated 10/24/2025, check no. 7475, in the amount of $1,879.24. The other check was from Elite Staffing, Inc., dated 10/29/2025, check no. 25861330, in the amount of $1,279.66. On November 12, 2025, Minneapolis Police were contacted by Mille Lacs Tribal Police to provide video footage of the incident from the bank.
In reviewing the videos, the male suspect in the bank matches Defendant. At present, Defendant is not in custody.
