Sterling William Stennis

At around 11:00 AM on August 17, 2025, officers were sent to the Jimmy Lee Rec Center at [ADDRESS REDACTED], St. Paul, Ramsey County on a shooting. Staff explained that STERLING WILLIAM STENNIS [DOB REDACTED] and another man later identified as LS got into a fight inside the rec center. Staff told the two men to leave. They continued to fight outside the facility. LS appeared to be winning the mutual fight, when Stennis pulled out a handgun, pointed it at LS, and fired a round into the ground in front of LS. Officers found a spent.380 casing and a bullet hole in the ground where staff indicated the incident occurred.

The shooting was caught on surveillance video, and Stennis is clearly identifiable. Stennis has a prior conviction for carrying a pistol in public without a permit in Ramsey County District Court file 62-CR-19-7344.
