On December 17, 2025, officers responded to a past-action report of a resident threatening an overnight security officer (“Victim”) with a knife at XX Glenwood Avenue in Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota. Officers reviewed surveillance video from the building, which started around 2:57 A.M. In the video, a resident is seen throwing a glass jar at Victim [NAME REDACTED] at Victim while waving a kitchen/butcher knife in Victim’s face. Officers later identified this resident as Defendant YACO HEVAR EATON, born on [DOB REDACTED] a.k.a. YACO HEVAR EATON born on [DOB REDACTED]. Officers took a phone statement from Victim.
Victim explained that Defendant made baseless accusations before escalating his conduct. Victim said that Defendant waved the knife in close proximity to his face while saying something like “I’m gonna do something to ya.” In a follow up statement, Victim [NAME REDACTED] incident began because he accidentally opened a door near where Defendant was sleeping. Defendant became agitated, went to his residence, returned to where Victim was, threw a glass jar at Victim, and then approached Victim with a large kitchen knife.
Victim [NAME REDACTED] during this encounter. Officers went to Defendant’s residence and located him. Without officers saying anything about why they were there, Defendant said, “F*** [Victim]” and started saying things that he believed about Victim. Officers arrested Defendant in the hallway outside his residence. On a stovetop in Defendant’s residence, officers observed a knife that looked like the knife seen in surveillance footage. Defendant is in custody.
