Michael Tavon Williams

On or about March 22, 2026, at approximately 2:31 A.M., Officer Murphy was on patrol near County Road 81 and Bass Lake Road, City of Crystal, Hennepin County, Minnesota, when a vehicle was observed driving at a high rate of speed. The radar lock showed the vehicle to be travelling at 70 MPH in a 55 MPH zone. A records check showed the vehicle had an expired registration from January 2025. Officer Murphy initiated a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, identified as MICHAEL TAVON WILLIAMS [DOB REDACTED], Defendant herein.

When asked to provide insurance, Defendant looked through his wallet before opening the glovebox. Officer Murphy observed a black handgun inside the glovebox before Defendant quickly closed it. Defendant claimed he did not have his permit with him at the time, but a records check shows Defendant does not have a permit to carry a firearm at all. Defendant was placed under arrest and the handgun was recovered.
