Your complainant is employed by the Brooklyn Center Police Department. In that capacity, complainant has reviewed official reports and has learned substantially the following: On August 24, 2025, at approximately 11:07 pm, officers were dispatched to the report of a property damage crash at the American Legion, located at [ADDRESS REDACTED] in the City of Brooklyn Center, County of Hennepin, State of Minnesota. Dispatch notes indicated that a vehicle driven by a drunk female suspect hit a number of vehicles in the parking lot and hit the American Legion building, causing damage.
Upon arrival officers observed damage to the building and multiple vehicles with visible damage. Officers located the suspect vehicle with the airbags deployed and a visibly drunk driver still seated in the driver’s seat. The driver was later identified as Sherry Aneesha Evans, [DOB REDACTED], the defendant herein. Officers observed that the defendant had an odor of alcohol, slurred speech, and glossy, bloodshot, watery eyes. The defendant had difficulty following directions, but officers assisted in removing her from the vehicle.
Officers identified the owners of two vehicles that had been damaged in the crash. Officers also spoke with a witness, [NAME REDACTED]B., who reported hearing a loud bang and then watching as the defendant sped up and crashed into two other vehicles. The defendant was transported to North Memorial Hospital for medical treatment and officers obtained a warrant for a blood or urine test from the Honorable Judge Laura Thomas. The defendant was advised that test refusal is a crime and agreed to provide a blood sample.
A medical lab assistant at the hospital drew a sample of the defendant’s blood at approximately 1:15 am. The blood sample was sent to the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension for an analysis which revealed that the defendant’s BAC was 0.258.
