On June 4, 2026, officers responded to an assault call near 4th Street and Hennepin Avenue in Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota. Dispatch notes relayed that the caller’s partner (“Victim”) was hit in the head and was bleeding. The reporting party described the male suspect as a black male pushing a car and wearing a red hat and a tie-dye shirt. Upon arrival, officers spoke with the reporting party (“Witness 1”), an adult female who is Victim’s partner. Witness 1 explained that she and Victim [NAME REDACTED] on Hennepin Avenue between 5th Street and 4th Street.
While walking, Witness 1 and Victim [NAME REDACTED], who appeared agitated and was saying something that Witness 1 could not understand. When Witness 1 and Victim tried to go around the suspect, Witness 1 described the suspect approaching them and then hearing a loud smack. Witness 1 and Victim then both started running away from the suspect. When Witness 1 and Victim stopped, Witness 1 saw a lot of blood coming from Victim’s head. Witness 2 was a passenger in a car and saw the suspect run up to Victim and strike Victim with some sort of stick.
Witness 2 used their hands to describe the object as about two feet long. Witness 2 saw the suspect chase Victim for about a half-block after the assault. Witness 3 was driving the car that Witness 2 was riding in. Witness 3 saw the suspect swing an object at Victim and saw Victim [NAME REDACTED] attack. Officers also spoke with Victim, [NAME REDACTED] on a gurney with his head wrapped. Victim and Witness 1 were walking when they encountered the suspect yelling. Victim and Witness 1 could not move very far from the suspect due to vehicle traffic.
Victim described the suspect as handling a 1–1.5-foot metal object that Victim thought was a knife. The suspect then ran at Victim [NAME REDACTED] in the back of the head. Victim’s injury required two staples to close. Other responding officers located a male on 5th Street near 1st Avenue who matched the suspect’s descriptions. Officers identified him as Defendant CLEOPHAS IMMANUEL PRATT, born on [DOB REDACTED]. Witnesses 1, 2, and 3 identified Defendant in a show-up. Milestone footage captured Defendant assaulting Victim.
Defendant is in custody.
