On October 7, 2025, Minneapolis Police Department officers responded to a reported theft in progress. Upon arrival officers learned that the loss prevention staff had two people in custody for the reported theft. Further investigation revealed that one of the detained parties was CHRISTINA ROSE CARDENAS, [DOB REDACTED], hereinafter Defendant. The reporting parties noted that Defendant, and the person she was with on this date had committed over twenty-five thefts at their stores in two Minneapolis locations between August 1, 2025, and October 7th, 2025. On October 7th, Defendant was observed selecting items from the store shelves.
Based on the number of prior thefts, the reporting parties believed Defendant was going to again leave the store with said items without paying and approached Defendant. When the reporting parties approached Defendant, the other individual with Defendant became aggressive with the reporting parties and attempted to fight. Said individual was ultimately subdued but did bite one of the reporting parties in the process. Prior to the aforementioned theft, the reporting parties provided Defendant a trespass warning on September 22, 2025, and again on October 1, 2025. Despite said warnings, Defendant continued to enter the store, select items and leave without making any effort to pay for said items.
Officers learned from the reporting parties that Defendant had entered the store within the past six-month period and exited the store with approximately $3,936.86 of merchandise without permission or payment. Store employees noted to officers that these incidents were documented within the six-month period and surveillance was available for review. Defendant is currently out of custody. The State respectfully requests this complaint issue via summons.
