In August 2025, Agent Gaikowski, assigned to the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) of the Wright County Sheriff’s Office, was working with a confidential reliable informant (CRI), who was providing information on the use and sale of controlled substances in Wright County. The CRI identified Dustin Hunter Brown, [DOB REDACTED], defendant herein, as someone who sells methamphetamine. The CRI had discussions with the defendant in which the defendant agreed to sell a quantity of methamphetamine to the CRI. Agent Gaikowski provided the CRI with surveillance and recording equipment.
The defendant and the CRI arranged for a buy location in Wright County, Minnesota. Agent Gaikowski supplied the CRI with currency for the amount the defendant agreed to sell the methamphetamine. Agent Gaikowski and Agent Young followed the CRI to the buy location. Agents observed the defendant meet with the CRI. After the sale of the methamphetamine by the defendant to the CRI, Agent Gaikowski met with the CRI. The CRI provided Agent Gaikowski with the methamphetamine sold by the defendant in exchange for cash.
The methamphetamine was in a plastic bag and weighed more than 17 grams but less than 25 grams. The methamphetamine field tested positive for methamphetamine. The CRI said the defendant sold the methamphetamine to the CRI. A complaint warrant is requested out of concerns for public safety and because the first-degree sale count is a presumptive commit to prison.
