On or about January 20, 2026, at approximately 1:07 A.M., Oakdale Police Officers were dispatched to [ADDRESS REDACTED], N., Oakdale, Washington County, Minnesota on a report of a threat of personal harm. Oakdale officers learned that T. L. S (Victim) had received a threat from David Gerald Achterling (defendant), [DOB REDACTED]. The message was sent to the victim from defendant stating that he was waiting for victim's male friend to leave her residence so defendant could "pulverize" him. Victim called law enforcement because she stated she was in fear of the defendant for herself and her friend.
Defendant and Victim [NAME REDACTED] in a prior romantic relationship. When officers made contact with the Victim [NAME REDACTED], she stated that the defendant has been sending her photographs around her apartment complex including her front door, garage entrance, several areas in the complex garage and directly in front of her car. One photograph showed fake roses that were left on the Victim's car. An image was sent of her workplace. One image that was sent on January 19, 2026, was of a ICE tip form stating he was going to submit the form the next day.
The tip form was directed at the male friend. Defendant had also called her approximately 40 times on January 19, 2026, all unwanted and unanswered. Defendant would routinely use *67 to disguise his phone calls. Defendant had called the Victim approximately 96 times in December, all unwanted. Victim had been modifying her route to her work in fear of being followed. Victim had been trying to block the defendant on all social media, but defendant would disguise himself to attempt to contact her. After responding, defendant was taken into custody and was read his Miranda warning.
He agreed to speak with officers. He admitted that he had gone too far. That he was aware victim [NAME REDACTED]. He admitted to putting the fake roses on her car. PLEASE TAKE NOTICE: YOU MUST APPEAR FOR EVERY COURT HEARING REGARDING THIS CASE. FAILURE TO APPEAR FOR COURT IS A CRIMINAL OFFENSE AND MAY RESULT IN ADDITIONAL CRIMINAL CHARGES BEING IMPOSED AND PUNISHED AS PROVIDED IN MINNESOTA STATUTES SECTION 609.49.
