On December 12, 2025, officers of the Ramsey Police Department responded to a single vehicle personal injury accident in the area of Sunwood Dr NW and Sunfish Lake Blvd NW in the city of Ramsey, Anoka County, Minnesota. When officers arrived, they observed a vehicle who had sustained severe front-end damage and had hit a tree on the boulevard. Officers made contact with the driver, Jake Alan Lelonek, [DOB REDACTED], Defendant herein, and the other occupants of the vehicle, three juveniles, identified as Defendant’s children.
Defendant told officers that he was driving his kids home from school when he hit a little snow and it pulled him off the road into the tree. While speaking with Defendant, officers noticed Defendant had bloodshot, watery eyes, slurred speech, and a strong odor of alcohol coming from his breath. When asked how much he had to drink, Defendant indicated he had one Long Island iced tea for breakfast and one cocktail for lunch. Defendant agreed to perform standardized field sobriety tests and officers noted multiple indicia of intoxication.
Defendant also submitted to a preliminary breath test which showed a BAC of.199. Defendant was placed under arrest and submitted to a blood draw pursuant to search warrant. The results of the blood analysis are pending. Two of the three juvenile passengers sustained injuries as a result of the crash. 12-year-old Child A lost three teeth as a result of the crash and had a cut on her upper lip. 7-year-old Child B suffered a cut to his right cheek.
