On March 8, 2026, law enforcement was dispatched to a reported stabbing at an address on Sunrise Circle in Moorhead, Clay County Minnesota. Upon arrival law enforcement observed a male, later identified as Dallas Jay White [DOB REDACTED], hereafter "Defendant," wearing light pants and a yellow/cream colored sweatshirt and a baseball cap exit the building with a female quickly following. The female told law enforcement that the Defendant had stabbed her boyfriend. Law enforcement detained the Defendant in an effort to investigate the report.
Deputy Johnson of the Clay County Sheriff's Office read the Defendant his Miranda warning. The Defendant agreed to speak with the Deputy and stated the following. Defendant had arrived at the Sunrise Circle address and entered into his bedroom where he became emotional over "stuff" that had been happening. He stated he had been watching the apartment for his father. The Defendant then exited the room and was confronted by J. M., hereafter "Victim," who is his sister's boyfriend. The Defendant and the Victim got into an altercation when the Defendant grabbed a knife that was on the ground because he believed the Victim was about to grab it.
Victim came at the Defendant with a "bike handlebar" and struck him in the left forearm. Law enforcement noted observing an abrasion to the Defendant's left forearm. Officer Bovosky of the Moorhead Police Department arrived on scene and aided law enforcement with detaining the Defendant before entering the building and locating the Victim. J. M. Was bleeding from the top of his head and his neck was covered in blood. Officer Bovosky observed a U shaped cut on the top center of the Victim's head that was approximately 2 to 3 inches long.
It also appeared that there was a smaller inch long cut towards the back of the Victim's head. Officer Bovosky gathered basic details from the Victim and the followed the ambulance to the hospital to gather a more detailed statement. Victim [NAME REDACTED] had been living at the apartment for a couple of days with his girlfriend. The Defendant had been coming and going out of the apartment with his girlfriend. Victim [NAME REDACTED] had been arguing with this girlfriend all morning eventually leaving the apartment.
When the Defendant returned he did so without his girlfriend and was upset. Defendant went into the back room of the apartment and slammed something. Victim was in the kitchen cooking chicken in the air fryer with his back to the majority of the kitchen. Defendant then came into the kitchen and shouldered the Victim [NAME REDACTED] was trying to move the cord out of the air fryer. When the Victim [NAME REDACTED] was holding a butcher knife with a red handle. Victim indicated he then put his hands up and believed he punched the Defendant at some point.
