On January 10, 2026, at 0241, Maplewood police officers were near 1870 Mesabi, Maplewood, Ramsey County, investigating two males out in the parking lot who were underdressed for the weather when an open-line 911 call came through in that area. Officers spoke to MMW, [DOB REDACTED], who said that a nearby male, Darren Andre Jackson, Jr, [DOB REDACTED], had broken into her apartment. Officers attempted to stop Jackson who was walking toward a gray Honda Civic, MN SPZ563. Jackson told officers to “F*** off,” and he entered the Honda.
The Honda was driven by a second male who drove away from the scene. A Maplewood squad stopped the vehicle in the parking lot. Jackson was still noncompliant and attempted to run away from the stop. Officers eventually arrested him. Jackson declined a custodial interview. MMW told police that she was in her bedroom with some male visitors hanging out when she heard banging and two kicks at her door. Jackson, the father of her children, came upstairs to her bedroom and punched her several times on the left side of her mouth.
She was holding her infant daughter during the assault, which knocked her and the child [NAME REDACTED]. She said that Jackson had a knife and ordered her two male visitors to leave. He told MMW that he was going to kill her. He then fled with the knife. She stated that Jackson does not live at the residence with her, and she did not allow him inside. Officers observed damage to the entry door leading into the residence. A female friend, JAD, [DOB REDACTED], confirmed MMW’s account of the incident.
She said that she witnessed the assault and saw Jackson with a knife. Officers did not locate a knife on Jackson’s person. They did not find a knife in the area. Jackson has the following qualified domestic violence-related offense convictions: Domestic Assault (GM), 62CR236439, 04/12/2024 Domestic Assault (M), 62CR1955483, 10/11/2019.
