That on or about April 14, 2026, at 5:43 P.M., Officers with the St. Louis Park Police Department were dispatched to [ADDRESS REDACTED]. S., in the City of St. Louis Park, County of Hennepin, State of Minnesota, on a report of an unwanted person. The Reporting Party, R. J., mentioned that four people were trying to get inside of his home. Upon arrival, Officers heard yelling coming from inside the residence; however, no one was responding to Officers knocking on the door and windows of the residence.
Concerned for the welfare of R. J., Officers entered the residence through an unlocked door, which appeared to have had the screw or lock jam freshly broken off the door as it was on the floor. With the door open, Officers could hear the argument and entered the kitchen. Officers contacted R. J. Inside the kitchen. R. J. Was standing next to DELAUN WILLIAM WOOD (“Defendant” herein), who was wearing a backpack. Officers separated R. J. And Defendant. R. J. Informed Officers that Defendant is his grandson.
Earlier that day at approximately 11:00 A.M., Defendant got upset with R. J. Because R. J. Wanted Defendant and his friends to leave his property. Defendant responded by grabbing R. J.’s sweatshirt hood and pulled R. J. To the ground. Defendant then punched R. J. In the forehead. R. J. Told Defendant he was not welcome at R. J.’s residence anymore. However, Defendant and his friends returned to R. J.’s residence later in the day. R. J. Had locked all the doors and could hear Defendant pounding on the door and yelling.
This caused R. J. To call 911. Defendant made his way inside R. J.’s residence and pushed R. J. Onto his back and started yelling at R. J. R. J. Believed Defendant broke a door to get into the residence. These actions caused R. J. To feel afraid. R. J. Also informed Officers that Defendant had threatened to shoot him in the past. Officers noticed R. J. Had a large purple/red mark on the left side of his face, which R. J. Believed could have been caused by the physical altercation with Defendant. For officer safety, Officer LeFevere attempted to conduct a pat frisk for weapons on Defendant’s person before starting the interview.
Defendant spun out of Officer LeFevere’s grasp and fled the scene on foot. Officer LeFevere caught up to Defendant and tackled Defendant to the ground. Upon hitting the ground, Officer LeFevere struck the right side of their forehead on a piece of timber, which caused a hematoma and abrasion to their forehead. While informing Defendant that he was under arrest, Defendant tried to squirm out from underneath Officer LeFevere while Officer LeFevere was attempting to place Defendant in handcuffs. Defendant continued to resist arrest, and other Officers arrived to assist Officer LeFevere in placing Defendant in handcuffs.
