On January 20, 2026, at approximately 7:51 P.M., Officer Wiethorn was notified of a theft at Macy’s, Rosedale Center, 1595 Highway 36, Roseville, County of Ramsey. Macy’s staff SD reported a theft of fragrances from the store. Staff recognized the suspect as the same person who committed a theft “last Tuesday.” SD sent the officer a photo of the suspect. Officer Wiethorn recognized the suspect in photo as the person that Detective Cook investigated the week prior for a theft at Macy’s involving fragrances.
Officer Cook identified the suspect in the prior theft as OMAR AHMED HUSSEEN, [DOB REDACTED]. Officer Cook knew that HUSSEEN uses public bus transportation. Officer Wiethorn went to the transit stop and noticed a male suspect who matched the suspect make contact with her squad car, turn around to enter AMC theater. The suspect, HUSSEEN, wore the same exact clothing in the photo that SD sent the officer. HUSSEEN looked at the officer, turned, and began to enter the theater. Officer Wiethorn called HUSSEEN by his name and advised he was under arrest.
HUSSEEN complied with officer commands. He had a bulge from his stomach area. As HUSSEEN was handcuffed, a blue Versace perfume box fell out from the front of his body. HUSSEEN was searched. Another blue Versace box fell from under HUSSEEN’s sweatshirt. He had three additional boxes of fragrance in a duffel bag. The total value of the five boxes of perfume is $629.00. SD was called to take possession of the stolen fragrances. SD said HUSSEEN entered Macy’s, immediately grabbed the box, and walked out of the store.
After a Miranda advisory, HUSSEEN spoke to Officer Wiethorn. HUSSEEN said he is homeless and was stealing the perfumes to sell them to make money. HUSSEEN said this is the second time he was at the mall stealing, with the prior week being the first time. HUSSEEN said he is a fentanyl user, and did not have money on him today. HUSSEEN has several theft related convictions, to include a Felony Theft conviction, court file 27-CR-23- 21119, conviction date 05/14/2024.
