On September 24, 2024, a manager at Menards (Dundas, Minnesota) reported to the Dundas Police Department that they received a check from a closed account. Menards reported that on August 16, 2024, a male, later identified as JEFFREY ROGER GRUNKLEE, [DOB REDACTED], the defendant herein, had issued a check (#1018) in the amount of $506.21 for the purchase of merchandise. The check was late returned marked as Account Closed. Officer Murray of the Dundas Police Department reviewed the surveillance video and saw the defendant issue the check.
The employee can also be seen writing the defendant’s driver’s license number on the check. Officer Murry was also informed by Menards that a Demand for Payment was sent to the defendant by Certified Mail on August 27, 2024. The defendant did not pay the check. On November 11, 2025, Officer Murray attempted to call the defendant. Officer Murray left a voicemail message but did not receive a return call. On November 12, 2025, Officer Murray obtained a search warrant for the defendant’s bank records.
